If you haven’t driven in Fiji before, you usually want to know who is picking you up. We’re ride-hailing on Viti Levu, not a hotel transfer desk. The items below are in the apps. You still need a nearby driver who is online.
4-digit pickup PIN
When a driver accepts, the passenger app shows a 4-digit PIN. The driver must type that PIN before the trip can start. That is how you avoid getting into the wrong car at a busy porte-cochère or at Nadi arrivals. If the numbers do not match, the trip does not start. Show the PIN; do not shout it across a rank.
Document review before driving
Drivers upload a profile photo, licence (front and back), national ID, vehicle registration, insurance, and photos of the vehicle. An operator reviews those files before the driver can receive rides. That’s a document check, not an LTA badge programme or a police clearance. Vehicles stay the driver’s responsibility. See the Drive page for what to upload.
Live map and share
After assignment you watch the car on the map. During an active trip, SOS also lets you share ride details (driver, vehicle, fare, route) through your phone’s share sheet — to a partner or hotel front desk, for example. Share is something you start. Cab Connect does not stream your trip to a watch desk.
Contacts after assignment
While the app is still searching, passenger phone and email are not shown to drivers. Lock-screen ride alerts use generic text. After a driver is assigned, you can call each other to find the pin. One live trip at a time: a driver cannot hold two passengers in the product.
SOS opens the dialer
During an active trip, SOS opens the phone dialer with Fiji Police 917, Ambulance 911, or Cab Connect support. It’s a shortcut, not a monitored emergency centre. If you need police or medical help, you still place that call. We reply in ordinary hours. WhatsApp and +679 9680798 are for airport arrivals and app questions.
Ratings, cash, and lost items
Passengers and drivers rate completed trips. Optional cash tips go directly to the driver. Payment is cash FJD; the apps do not take cards. There is no in-app lost-and-found flow. If you left something in a car, contact support with the trip time and we will try to reach the driver — we cannot guarantee recovery.
What this is not
We don’t run police background-check branding, a night operations floor, web booking, or a public rate card. We don’t guarantee a car, a wait time, or every address on Viti Levu. Most days drivers are online in Suva, Lami, Nausori, and Nadi. Lautoka, Ba, and Denarau when a driver is online. Viti Levu only — not Vanua Levu, Taveuni, Yasawa, or the Mamanuca islands. Both apps are Android only. For airport arrivals, start on Nadi Airport taxi. Legal detail is in Terms.
Questions
What is the pickup PIN?
After a driver is assigned, the passenger app shows a 4-digit PIN. The driver must enter that PIN before the trip can start.
Does SOS call a Cab Connect emergency desk?
No. SOS opens your phone dialer for Fiji Police 917, Ambulance 911, or Cab Connect support. It is not a monitored emergency centre.
Are drivers background-checked by police?
Drivers upload a licence, national ID, registration, insurance, and vehicle photos. An operator reviews those documents before rides start. We do not claim a separate criminal-background-check product.
When can the driver see my phone number?
Passenger phone and email stay hidden while the app is still searching. After a driver is assigned, you can call each other.
